Church in the City Lenten Speaker Series

Wednesdays in Lent — 6 pm in the Hall Life Center

Gather with your church family on Wednesday evenings this Lent to share a soup supper and learn about how we can be the Church in the city. The Church in the City Lenten speaker series seeks to inform and encourage our parishioners to promote and participate in community engagement as part of their formation in Christ, how they see themselves in relation to God, and their calling as disciples.

The evening begins at 6 pm with a simple soup supper, prepared by different ministries of St. John the Divine. Each week will feature a different speaker who will talk about how their church lives out their mission to be the Church in their city. On the final week, we will hear from parishioners who are leading our outreach in A Lighted Path. Table discussions will follow the speaker, using a study guide created by St. John the Divine.

Each week, the study guide explores a parable, focuses on the speaker's local ministry, and includes questions for small group discussion. You can also participate at your own pace whether individually or in small groups off-site. Printed copies of the study guide will be available at the church. You can also sign up to receive the individual devotions by email Monday — Friday, Ash Wednesday through Holy Week.
