Room 201
The Rev. Reagan Cocke will look at Paul’s likely first and final letters in a weekly one-hour Bible study on Galatians and Philippians.
After planting churches in Asia Minor, Paul wrote to them addressing social issues and racial divisions in the churches in Galatia. Galatians is a circular letter meant to be read at several churches, not just one. He wrote about AD 50, some 15 to 20 years after the death of Jesus, making this one of the earliest of Christian writings.
Philippians usually heads the list of people’s favorite letter from Paul. We like this letter because of the warm and personal Paul we find here, unlike the correcting and admonishing Paul of Galatians. This is one of Paul’s final letters, most likely written from imprisonment in Rome in the early 60s.
