"We give to SJD because it has instilled a deep sense of faith in our children, has provided us with a plethora of opportunities to grow and serve, and has given us a sense of belonging within a community that we love."
— Alecia & Matthew Summers
2022 saw our church family regather in a big way! Our young family membership and engagement has increased over 24% this year, young adult membership has grown over 62%, 1,164 parishioners are participating in groups and classes, and we will give over 3000 lbs of food for 2,500+ meals from food drives for Epiphany Community Health and Outreach Services this year.
Unique to the Christian faith is the miracle of the Incarnation when, as our patron, St. John poetically writes, “the Word became flesh and dwelt among us.” Among the profound implications of this divine action is that God’s power works not only through spiritual realities but also in material things: flesh and blood, bread and wine, water, etc. To be Incarnational people means to believe that the things of this world can be the very instruments of God’s blessing. So it is with our financial giving to the church.
— The Rev. Dr. R. Leigh Spruill, rector
