The word “Chrismon” is a combination of the words “CHRISt” and “ MONogram”, meaning “symbol”. They are primarily white and gold, sometimes silver, ornaments in the shapes of religious symbols and ancient Greek letters. The Chrismons are visible signs of the invisible meaning of God, Christ, the Holy Spirit, and the Church with its seasons. This Advent you are invited to discover some of the beautiful Chrismon ornaments created by the women of St. John the Divine. Each Sunday, four pictures will be displayed on a poster for you to find on the Chrismon tree.
