Your Gifts Change Lives!

GIVE NOW  Pledge Now

Through God’s grace, we are the hands and feet of Christ to each other, sharing in worship and the study of the Word, serving our neighbors as ourselves, and praying with and for one another.

"My philosophy of generosity to the church is this: giving is a voluntary response of gratitude. As a Christian, giving to the church is quite simply an irresistible and tangible expression of gratitude for the limitless generosity of God in Jesus Christ"

~The Rev. Dr. R. Leigh Spruill, rector

Louise Symmes

Director of Generosity

After graduating from Duke University with a degree in management sciences, Louise worked for a healthcare consulting firm and Johnson & Johnson. She and her husband, Will came to St. John the Divine in 1998 and raised their sons here while serving in many volunteer capacities. She eventually moved into non-profits and was Executive Director of The Guild Shop for almost ten years. Her experience in nonprofit interim executive directory work brought her "temporarily" into the role of Director of Generosity here at St. John the Divine, where she has served since 2018.
