The seniors ministry of St. John the Divine is here to help meet the unique spiritual, physical and emotional needs of our aging parishioners and their families through a variety of educational, outreach, and support programs.
We connect our members with a variety of volunteer opportunities to share their life experience with the parish and community. We bring in experts to give their advice on topics of interest to seniors and their families. And sometimes we just like to have fun together!

RightCare Ministry: Aging Well Series

SJD’s RightCare Ministry will present a series of classes delving into the reality and challenges of aging as we enter the 2nd quarter of this century. Invite your family, friends, and neighbors to join us in learning research-based methods to improve our ability to thrive! Classes meet on Sundays, April 12 – May 17, at 10:15 am in Rm 208. Seniors Ministry Staff
Born a Texan, Susan spent her childhood years in New Orleans and Sydney, Australia. After acquiring a degree at the University of Virginia and moving to Houston in the '80s, she founded and managed several companies focused on healthcare staffing. Working at SJD is the culmination of 35+ years of training and experience in helping our seniors live safer, fulfilling lives as they navigate the issues of aging.

Planning Ahead and Preparing Well: Critical Steps for Peace of Mind

Join us for a practical and informative panel discussion focused on estate, healthcare, and long-term planning. Estate planning professionals Julie Edelman and Elizabeth Bunk will guide participants through important considerations surrounding wills, trusts, healthcare directives, financial decision-making, probate, tax planning, and preparing for the future with confidence and peace of mind. Tara Converse, Director of Parish Giving, will join the panel to discuss the Sumners Legacy Society and how parishioners can include St. John the Divine in their long-term plans.

The seniors ministry is excited to partner with our neighbor, St. John's School for Teaching Tech! Anyone in need of technological assistance is invited to meet with St. John's School students who will teach them different technology skills in a small group setting.
