Children's ministry walks alongside families with children 5th grade and younger. To shepherd children into a lasting relationship with God, the ministry introduces Jesus to the youngest parishioners, plants seeds of God's word into their hearts, and models the love of Jesus through a caring team of volunteers.

All week, we’ll be shining a light on who Jesus is as we learn more about our Vacation Bible School verse. While many know about Jesus, some are still in the dark about who he really is. Is he just a person from history? Was he just a wise teacher? Why does knowing him matter? Let’s let the light of Jesus make our lives brighter by living into the scriptures that say Jesus is the perfect, proven, and powerful Son of God!
Here's what you can expect: daily points that reinforce our overall message, games, crafts, snacks, intentional small-group time, and Bible lessons, all designed to shine a light on Jesus and our relationship with him.
Email Holli Kight, director of children's ministry, to find out how you can be involved!
We can't do it without you!
We are looking for adult and youth volunteers and supply donations!
We need your help providing snacks for our VBS kids and our volunteer hospitality room. We will collect donations through June 10 via shipping from this Amazon Wish List (or similar items - no nuts please), drop them off at the receptionist's desk, or in Sumner's Hall!

Holli Kight served as Director of Children’s Ministry at St. Martin’s Episcopal Church from 2008 to 2022. She brings a wealth of experience and deep knowledge to this vital ministry, along with a strong passion for children and the important role they play in the future of our church.

The Rev. Libby Garfield joined St. John the Divine in 2023. She holds and Master of Divinity degree from Nashotah House Theological Seminary and a bachelor’s degree from Sewanee: The University of the South. Prior to ordained ministry, she worked in youth ministry in Louisville, KY. She is a certified Level I Catechist with Catechesis of the Good Shepherd.

St. John the Divine has been a second home to ReBecca and her family. She has been blessed to have her four children baptized and confirmed in this parish. More importantly, they are all active members of this amazing community.

Luci is from Sao Paulo, Brazil, and came to the United States as a nanny. She got her Associate in Teaching here in Houston and started working at SJD in 2006 as a Nursery Worker. She became the Nursery and Preschool Associate in 2018. She loves working with children because she believes they are angels sent by God to bring joy to our lives!

Tany is a native Houstonian and attended The Kinkaid School and The University of Texas at Austin. She was a buyer for a boutique clothing store and went on to be Director of Recruiting and assisted with marketing at Chamberlain, Hrdlicka law firm.
She has four grown children and one grandson. Tany spent many years as a “professional volunteer” with the Junior League of Houston and at her children’s schools, as well as with numerous non-profits in Houston and serving in board positions.
She began at SJD in the rector’s office and after many years of serving God and others who are in need through our Go Outreach ministry she is happily supporting our formation and family ministries.
