Youth Ministry
Our youth programs equip students in grades 6 – 12 for a life of faith.
We give our students the opportunity to authentically grow in the Christian faith and mission while nurturing their development and maturity as individuals and in community. We help our students take ownership of their faith and give them the freedom to wrestle with their questions in a safe environment. Involvement opportunities include Sunday School, Midweek, Confirmation, and Youth Game Night.

Youth Sunday School
Sundays — 10:15 am
All middle and high school students are invited to gather for Sunday school.
Middle School - Room 238
We will go through the Old and New Testament in a curriculum created specifically for our middle schoolers.
High School - Room 234
Volunteers will lead high schoolers in curriculum-based discussion to further their biblical knowledge.
Blueprint Mission, San Antonio TX: June 7-12 - SJD Youth is excited to return to San Antonio this summer and work with Blueprint Ministries in their mission to share Christ's love, hope, and grace with those with substandard housing in San Antonio. This mission is open to youth currently in grade 6 and above. The cost is $550 with a $100 deposit due at registration. Click HERE to register! The deadline to register for the Blueprint mission is April 1st.
Costa Rica Mission: June 20-29 - We will once again partner with the Diocese of Costa Rica for this outreach opportunity. In Costa Rica, we will have the opportunity to serve Episcopal churches and their children and youth. As we serve, we will reflect on God's call to serve our neighbors, both near and far. This mission is open to youth currently in grade 9 and above. The cost is $2,200 with a $500 deposit due at registration.
The Costa Rica mission requires an application to be filled out before registering. Please click HERE to find the application and turn it into ekight@sjd.org. We will give you steps for registration once your application is approved! The deadline to register for the Costa Rica Mission is March 1st.
Youth Midweek
Wednesdays, 6:30pm
The last Midweek for the Spring 2026 semester will be on May 13th.
Join us for Midweek! Every Wednesday from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm, SJD Youth will share a meal, play games, and worship together. All 6th - 12th graders are welcome! We will meet downstairs for dinner before going upstairs to the Youth Room.
Youth Game Night
2nd Sundays, 6:30pm
Join us for Youth Game Night on the second Sunday of each month! We will gather at 6:30pm for dinner and fun games. All 6th-12th graders are welcome!
Youth Confirmation
Fall—Spring
Confirmation is a time milestone in a young person’s faith. Here in the Episcopal Church we practice infant baptism and allow students to renew their baptismal vows when they get older. This is done during Confirmation. At St. John the Divine, students typically go through Confirmation class as 8th graders. It is a year-long course during the Sunday School hour, led by both youth staff and adult volunteers. The class begins at the start of the school year and runs through the following May.
The 2025-2026 Confirmation Class will begin on September 7.
Spring Confirmation is on Sunday, May 10.
Youth Ministry Staff
Wes is a candidate to graduate from the University of Houston in 2026. Prior to joining SJD, Wes worked at Blueprint Ministries leading teams of youth volunteers on construction projects including an SJD group in San Antonio this past summer.

Student Ministry Council Meeting
Mar 22, 2026 • 5:30pm - 6:30pm
All youth are welcome to participate in our Student Ministry Council. We will focus on shaping the youth group in ways that students want, so that it is a place where they feel welcome and comfortable. Hearing students' feedback is our top priority, so please come share your ideas and thoughts at the Student Ministry Council meetings! The meeting will take place right before Youth Game Night.
Youth Game Night: Movie Night

All youth are invited to Youth Game Night, Movie Night, on Sunday, March 22, from 6:30 pm to 8 pm. We will meet in the Hall Life Center for dinner. This is a fun way for our youth, grades 6-12, to get to know one another better and grow in their relationships with each other and Christ.
