Sundays are joyful and busy at St. John the Divine! Arriving 10 minutes early is a good plan so you have time to park and find your way.
Like all Episcopal churches, St. John the Divine worships in the “liturgical style,” which means we follow a relatively common order of service found in our prayer book, The Book of Common Prayer. At every service, you will be greeted by one of our friendly ushers. At the traditional services, your greeter will provide you with a printed 'Order of Service' that contains everything you need to follow along and participate in the service. In the young family and modern worship services, you can follow along with the screens in the front of the room. Feel free to take a seat wherever you are comfortable! Sunday services usually include singing, Bible readings, prayers for ourselves and others, a sermon, and Holy Communion. Services typically last one hour or less.
We welcome children of all ages in all our services! The 9:15 am Awesome Worship service is designed for families with young children to worship together. In the church services, you can pick up a children's activity bag from an usher when you arrive. Families also have the option to use our Family Room during our 9:00 and 11:15 am traditional services, which features comfortable furniture, toys, and a screen to view the service. Also, The Bridge, a children's chapel for children in grades 1 – 5, meets from September to May during the 9 am church service.
Nursery care is available for infants and preschoolers from 8:30 am – 12:30 pm on the first floor of the administration building.
