Preparation for Communion Classes are for children are for children in 2nd grade fall of 2024 (rising third graders may also register). This 8-week course is designed for children to learn more about the sacrament of Holy Communion. Children are invited whether or not they already receive Holy Communion. Using materials and curriculum from the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Level II formation course, this process allows children to have a deeper understanding of the sacrament and grow in their faith.
The 8-week course consists of 7 Sunday morning classes beginning September 8, 10:15-11:05 am, in room L17, a Saturday morning retreat at St. John the Divine ending in the Renewal of Baptismal Vows service in the Chapel on October 26, 9:00 am - 12:00 pm, and The Celebration of Holy Communion on Sunday, October 27, at the 11:15 am service in the church with a reception to follow in Sumners Hall.
