The Sewing Group at St. John the Divine began in 1939 and has provided beautiful hand-made objects for parishioners and fellowship for those who participate. The group makes hand embroidered baby blankets and beaded Christmas ornaments.
The Sewing Group also encompasses the Prayer Shawl Ministry. This group knits prayer shawls for people who are bereaved, undergoing medical treatment, or in any kind of distress. A note is included with the shawl that explains the ministry and the commitment of people to uphold each recipient in prayer during their time of need.
No experience is necessary to work with either group.
