Giving Opportunity Through the Nau Matching Gift Fund

In the spring of 2020, we announced a gift from longtime parishioner, Mr. John Nau. Inspired by gratitude for Christ and St. John the Divine being there for him, John established a 5-year match challenge, from 2020 – 2024, to address some needs of our parish. Each of the years of the match, John has given $250,000 to support our ministry initiatives. The match is contingent on, as John says, “the big hearts of our parish” to give $200,000 each year above and beyond their pledge. This 2 for 1 match allows our leadership — the clergy and vestry — to decide where the $200,000 from parishioners is most needed each year.

Following the end of this match in 2024, John has committed to give $1.25 million to St. John’s Memorial Endowment Fund between 2025 – 2029, ($250,000 a year) as a living legacy gift.
