Exodus: From the Burning Bush to the Fire of Sinai
Thursdays, 7:00-8:15 am, September 4 – October 23, 2025
The Hall Life Center
Led by the Rev. Dr. Leigh Spruill
Beginning on Thursday, September 4, the men of St. John the Divine are invited to immerse themselves in the first half of the Book of Exodus.
This sacred text picks up where Genesis concludes - with the people of God in Egypt. Exodus is foundational for our understanding of God’s call of a particular nation for universal purpose, of God’s promise to deliver his people from slavery, and of God’s covenant faithfulness intended to be witnessed in Israel’s obedience. Thus, this second book of the Bible is foundational for understanding the connection between the God of Exodus and the person of Jesus, the ultimate liberator of our enslavement to sin and death.
The format for each session will include a light breakfast, 30-35 minutes of teaching, followed by small group discussion. Please join Fr. Leigh and feel free to bring friends and neighbors!
