Prayer: Conversations with God
Fall Adult Education Series
Sundays, September 7 - November 23
10:15 am in the Hall Life Center
Many of us know that prayer is something we “should” do, but we may not know how to begin, why it matters, or even what prayer truly is. This fall, St. John the Divine invites you into a season of exploring prayer through Sunday lectures, a parish renewal weekend, and a lay-led Bible study series. We hope that this will be a time of deepening our connection with God as we learn more about what "talking with God" looks like.
The journey begins in September with lectures on prayer by the Rev. Dr. Leigh Spruill, the Rev. Dr. Michael Lloyd, and Dr. Kira Moolman Pettit, leading up to our parish-wide Awaken weekend on October 3 and 4. We'll wrap up the weekend with a special celebration on Sunday, October 5, including worship at 10 am and a shared meal for all.
Following the weekend, we’ll continue the conversation with a lay-led Bible study series on prayers found in Scripture, running through October and November. Each week will include teaching and small group discussion.
