Houston reVision / SJD Day

Empower at-risk youth to transformation and hope by participating in a reVision field day at St. John the Divine! We will host a field day on our campus on Wednesday, June 25, from 11:30 am to 3:30 pm, and we need your presence. This is a great way to serve in a way that’s relational, intentional, and impactful! 12:30 – 12:50 PM | Arrival & Warm Welcome

  • Friendly greeters meet youth at drop-off point
  • Offer cold water, light snacks if needed immediately
  • Gentle introduction to the space and the flow of the day
  • Name tags optional — only if it feels comfortable

12:50 – 1:25 PM | Nourishing Lunch

  • Hot, nutritious meal served in a relaxed, indoor setting (Sumners Hall)
  • Volunteer hosts eat with the group to create a welcoming, equal atmosphere
  • Music playing softly in the background
  • Tables with cards: “What’s one song that lifts your mood?” or “If you could have any superpower…” to spark gentle, low-pressure conversation

1:25 – 1:50 PM | Break-Dancing Performance & Participation

  • High-energy performance by a local break-dancer or crew
  • Optional movement activity: Learn 1–2 easy moves if youth are interested
  • Focus on expression and joy, not skill or pressure

1:50 – 2:10 PM | Outdoor or Indoor Game Time

  • Game options (let youth choose):
  • Dodge ball
  • Uno or dominoes
  • Giant Jenga
  • Art station (graffiti wall, free drawing)
  • Goal: Joy and autonomy — they get to pick how they engage

2:10 – 2:30 PM | Organ Demo & Church Tour

  • Short walk into the sanctuary
  • Demonstration of the church’s organ — big sound, cool pipes
  • Emphasize the beauty and history of the space
  • Invite questions or stories from the youth

2:30 – 2:45 PM | Sound Bath & Quiet Reflection

  • Move to a peaceful space (chapel, quiet room, or shaded lawn)
  • Short guided sound bath or calming audio experience (10 min max)
  • Youth can sit, lie down, or just relax — no expectations

2:45 – 3:10 PM | Bell Ringing & Group Circle

  • Visit the bell tower (or wherever bell access is)
  • Each youth rings the bell or participates in some way
  • Gather in a circle afterward: “What’s one thing you’re taking with you today?”
  • Offer words of encouragement and gratitude

3:10 – 3:30 PM | Sendoff & Gifts

  • Distribute meaningful care bags (ideas below)
  • Optional group photo (with consent)
  • Send-off with music, warmth, and hope
