Go and Serve in Houston All Month Long

Donate through November 16
We asked our community partner, Generation One, what their families need most this season. You can help by shopping from our Amazon list or bringing the items listed below to the bin at the reception desk by November 15. Sponsored by the St. John the Divine Daughters of the King.

November 17 | 11 am
Our mission is simple: wrap doors (yes, actual doors!) with festive Christmas paper, ribbon, and uplifting messages for residents and staff, reminding people they are seen, loved, and valued.

November 20 | 3 pm
Our mission is simple: wrap doors (yes, actual doors!) with festive Christmas paper, ribbon, and uplifting messages for residents and staff, reminding people they are seen, loved, and valued.

November 26 | 11 am
Share the spirit of Thanksgiving with our unhoused neighbors at Lord of the Streets (LOTS)! St. John the Divine will help provide food and volunteers for their annual Thanksgiving Luncheon.

November 10, 17 & December 1, 8, 15 | 3:30 pm
As the weather cools (hopefully), the SJD Snack Shack will hold Hot Chocolate Mondays for Lamar High School students. Each Monday, Lamar H.S. students are invited to stop by for a free cup of hot chocolate, topped with marshmallows and kindness.

Order through November 19
From October 27 to November 19, you can order Brookwood’s famous casseroles online, perfect for busy nights, family gatherings, or sharing with a friend in need. Every purchase helps support Brookwood’s mission of providing meaningful work and purpose for adults with disabilities. Pre-ordered casseroles will be available for pickup on Sunday, November 23, in Sumners Hall after morning services.

With many in our community facing reduced SNAP (the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits, we invite you to support our community partners providing food assistance through service and generosity: Christian Community Service Center, The Beacon, Interfaith Ministries, and Kids' Meals.
Let us pray for all affected by hunger, for those who serve them, and for those entrusted with authority to make wise decisions on behalf of the common good.
At St. John the Divine, we believe Christ chooses each church member to represent him, especially to those who don't know his love or are in need. We love Houston and strive to be A Light for the City.
Whether you volunteer with a ministry here at church, serve in the community, or give your time in another way, we’d love to learn more about how you’re already serving.
Please take a few minutes to complete our short Go Ministry survey. Your responses will help us celebrate the many ways our parish lives out God’s call to serve.
