The Lord's Final Days in Jerusalem: A Historical Analysis of Holy Week
Sundays, March 9 – 30, 10:15 am in Room 203
This 4-week course will examine the historical landscape, key figures, and cultural dynamics of Jesus's final days in Jerusalem, from his triumphant entry to his crucifixion. Drawing from archaeological evidence, Roman and Jewish historical records, and medical research, we will explore the political climate of first-century Jerusalem, the roles of figures like Pontius Pilate and Caiaphas, the details of the Last Supper, and the brutal reality of Roman crucifixion - including the detailed physiological effects of this form of execution, from the initial trauma through the mechanisms of death.
