Pound of Love Drive for Generation One

Go and serve by sharing a “pound of love” with 100 families in need in Houston! 
Runs October 15 – November 15

We asked our community partner, Generation One, what their families need most this season. You can help by shopping from our Amazon list or bringing the items listed below to the bin at the reception desk by November 15. Sponsored by the St. John the Divine Daughters of the King.

Items Needed:

• Diapers, Size 2 - 4
• Girls & Boys Pants (2T-7T)
• Girls & Boys Jackets (4T - Small)
• Girls & Boys Underwear (3T - 5T)
• Children's Socks
• Non-Perishable Food (Mac & Cheese, Boxed Mashed Potatoes, Canned Goods, etc.)
• $25 Grocery Gift Cards

Ways to Give:

• Drop off donations at the reception desk
• Shop directly from our Amazon Wish List
• Make a check payable to St. John the Divine with “Generation One” in the memo line

What is "a Pounding"?

The phrase “a pounding” dates back to the 16th century, when church communities would bring a pound of essentials (flour, sugar, butter, or other staples) to help a family in need.

Today, our Pound of Love drive carries on that tradition by collecting items that will directly support the children and families served by Generation One, a Houston nonprofit dedicated to breaking the cycle of poverty through early childhood education, family support, and community transformation.

Together, let’s share a Pound of Love and make this Thanksgiving season brighter for Houston families through our community partnership at Generation One.
