Deanna Lawson's Next Steps

Dear Friends in Christ,
I want to let you know some news about our long-serving Director of Children's Ministry, Deanna Lawson. Over the last year, Deanna has discerned a call to move on from her role as Director of Children's Ministry. Deanna's last Sunday with us in her professional role will be September 15.
I share great gratitude for Deanna's enormously impactful ministry over the years at St. John the Divine. She has been a significant thread in the fabric of our families, youth, and children for a generation, and her gracious influence will live on for years to come. Please find a note from Deanna below that expresses deep gratitude for her time among us. I know you will join me in wishing Deanna every blessing in this upcoming transition as we celebrate her ministry in the weeks to come.

Dear Friends,
It is with a heart full of gratitude and mixed emotions that I am writing to let you know of my resignation from St. John the Divine. It has been one of the great privileges of my life to serve alongside you as the Children’s Minister for the past 16 years and for five years in Youth Ministry prior to that. I am unsure of my next steps, but I plan on spending time with family, helping my youngest (and last) child at home navigate the college application process, and discerning what is next for me professionally as we move into fall.
This church has formed my faith and the faith of my family for many years, and our family will continue to worship and be formed in this holy place. I am excited about the future of St. John the Divine! Our friendships, shared memories, and the work we have done together are things I will hold dear going forward. I am humbled and honored to think of the opportunities I have been given to serve the God I love, in a place I love, amongst people I love. My last day will be September 15, so there is time for me to tell you in person how much you will be missed.
