Five Years of ESL

Five years ago, SJD parishioner Barbara Foxhall asked for the use of a classroom at the church where she could teach English as a second language. Her first class had three students. In the Fall 2022 semester, 127 students from 32 countries were served by 32 volunteers. We recently celebrated Barbara on the stunning success of the ESL program.
In the video below you will hear from Barbara about her vision, and how God answered her prayers in such spectacular ways; from her fellow teachers and volunteers about how they are blessed by Barbara and all the wonderful students that have passed through the program; and from students about how their lives have been changed by the gift of English and their relationships with a dedicated group of SJD volunteers and other students from dozens of countries.
Registration for the fall semester of our ESL program is now open. If you know someone interested in learning English, please invite them to register! The program also depends on a dedicated group of volunteers! If you would like to meet and befriend students from around the world, we encourage you to sign up to volunteer for ESL.
