Teaching Tech: Technology Help for Seniors

by Susan Davis

The Seniors Ministry is excited to partner with our neighbor, St. John’s School, to bring you Teaching Tech—a monthly technology class designed to help seniors grow more confident with today’s tools. During each session, attendees are paired with St. John’s School students who offer one-on-one and small-group assistance. Whether you’re just getting started or need help troubleshooting, our student partners are ready to guide you step by step.

One of the best parts? Teaching Tech provides personalized flashcards and learning resources after each lesson, so you can keep practicing at home.

Not sure if this class is for you? Here are some of the real questions past attendees have asked:

  • Could you help me set up an email account?
  • I know I have an email account, but I’m not sure how to filter through my messages.
  • How do I navigate Google Maps?
  • I just got a new computer—how do I transfer my data?
  • I want to start an Instagram account. How do I use the app?
  • Could you help me set up my new computer?
  • I’m having trouble organizing my passwords.

We’ve also assisted with tasks like sorting through flash drives, making Instagram posts and reels, and cleaning out storage on devices.

Whether it’s sending your first email, finding directions online, or simply getting comfortable with your smartphone, Teaching Tech is here to help. Drop in during our next session and see how fun learning technology can be!

Teaching Tech meets on Fourth Wednesdays, 4 pm - 5:15 pm in the Parlor
