Have you ever longed for a weekend that lets you step away from the noise of daily life, reconnect with God, and rediscover what truly matters? That’s exactly what Awaken ’25 is all about. From October 3 to 5, our entire parish family will come together for a weekend of renewal, worship, and community. It’s not just another event on the church calendar; it’s an opportunity to be refreshed, challenged, and inspired together.
As our rector, Leigh Spruill puts it best: “Awaken ’25 will change you and our church!” This weekend is a vital part of our vision to grow in the Spirit, deepen our faith in Jesus, and step boldly into God’s future. No matter your age or stage of life, this weekend is for you.
We’re welcoming Dr. Ed Newton, senior pastor of Community Bible Church in San Antonio, and Shauna Niequist, best-selling author and speaker. Both regularly reach thousands of Christians through powerful preaching and writing. Their words will help awaken and renew your faith as we rededicate ourselves and our church to the Lord.
Awaken ’25 isn’t about doing more or cramming our schedules full. It’s about opening ourselves to God, who promises to transform us into the people he created us to be. Our part is simple: we show up. God does the work.
Whether you’re 7 or 77 (or anywhere in between), there’s a place for you at Awaken. Kids, youth, college students, parents, and grandparents are all invited because God works through every generation of our church family.
On Sunday, the weekend culminates with two parish-wide services at 10 am: an energetic Awesome Worship service for children and families, and a combined church service featuring Shauna Niequist as the preacher. Then we’ll gather for a celebratory parish lunch to remind us that this is not just the end of a weekend, but the beginning of what God will do next.
Awaken ’25 is our chance to open ourselves to the Spirit together and live into our vision of being A Light for the City. It’s a turning point in the life of our parish; something we’ll look back on for years to come. Don’t miss being part of it.
Come ready to be renewed. Sometimes the most powerful thing you can do is simply show up—and let God awaken you.
