Teaching Tech for Seniors
The seniors ministry is excited to partner with our neighbor, St. John's School for Teaching Tech! Anyone in need of technological assistance is invited to meet with St. John's School students who will teach them different technology skills in a small group setting.

Teaching Tech's goal is to stimulate interaction and connections between young people and St. John the Divine members while teaching them fun and essential technology skills. The program was created by a group of St. John's student volunteers at Belmont Village West University two years ago. Last year, they added classes at the West University Senior Center. They continue to expand the program in order to provide technology assistance to more Houston seniors.
The Teaching Tech program provides instruction through small group lessons so each senior in attendance can have their questions answered. These sessions are tailored to the technology interests of the class participants, and topics range from technology basics to communication and technology options for entertainment. The possibilities are unlimited!
Teaching Tech also offers individual help appointments. Teaching Tech volunteers typically organize these individual help sessions directly with interested seniors upon request.
Teaching Tech also provides learning resources such as instructional flashcards to help seniors implement new technology skills in their daily lives. The students are currently at work to create a website featuring a variety of learning resources, videos, and flashcards to help seniors with their questions.
